Day -300+: Xoji and his band of hunters embark on a journey out of Daggerford in Faerun to search for a pack of werewolf killing livestock in small villages east of the town. While hunting, a mist arises and as it abates, they find themselves in a strange land but still hear wolves in the distance. A trail is followed to a village called Krezk where the citizens not welcoming. Wolves can still be heard howling to the north.
The hunting party is attacked by wolves in the night and only Xoji escapes with his life, somehow. He awakens some time later in a church. The priest informs him that he healed his wounds after finding him washed up in the river. Ever since he has lived in the Village of Barovia awaiting more adventurers to help him.
Xoji...His desire to seek out and eliminate evil of all forms led to his volunteering to join a hunting party going out to the Misty Forest in search of werewolves. The group quickly found themselves lost in a mist and eventually stumbled upon a town called Krezk. The citizens were not very friendly, and wouldn't allow the party into the town to rest and replenish. After much persuasion, the town folk did reveal that a pack of werewolves had recently been spotted well to the north of town. While searching for this den, the party was set upon by a large, ferocious group of werewolves and were quickly overwhelmed. The last thing Xoji remembered was seeing his clan mates fall to the beasts, before succumbing to his own injuries. He awoke in a temple in the village of Barovia. In a chance encounter with a Vistani seer named Madam Eva, he was told of some adventurers that would be arriving to aid him.
